Founded by Dirk and Sonja Mooibroek in 1973, ICMI designs and builds state-of-the-art microprocessor-based power utility controls to demanding performance and reliability standards. A career, building Military Aircraft and Missile electronic systems, convinced him to apply these standards for Utility Applications which are also exposed to environmental extremes.
In our Cincinnati-based facility, ICMI's engineering staff incorporates the most advanced technologies. ICMI’s approach to the design of software based control technology ensures that your investment can be upgraded in the field, on-the-fly, minimizing control obsolescence.
Beginning in 1975 and through the mid-90s, ICMI designed and built McGraw-Edison’s Autobooster, Simplified Regulator, and the first micro-based full 32-step voltage regulator control, commencing with the CL-1 through CL-5 controls. Well over 60,000 are in service worldwide (1975-1997).
The year 2009 begins a new era in SCADA communications called SMART-GRID. ICMI is commisioned to participate with the UVR-1 voltage regulator controls for a major US utility. The UVR-1 control enables SMART-GRID firmware to be installed into controls dating back 10 years. A first in control technologies.

ICMI's corporate policy dictates that all engineered products meet or exceed ANSI-IEEE and communication independent CERTIFICATION, and provides the customers with the absolute assurance that ICMI products have documented/certified performance compliance. The UVR-1 carries a solid 10 year ltd warranty. The UVR-1 is a direct upgrade replacement for McGraw/Cooper, A-C/Siemens, and GE single phase 32 step controls. The unit includes a powerful 32bit Motorola Microprocessor and provides the latest in network communications including SCADA, DNP 3.0 Level2, RS-232, RS-485, and optional fiber optic and modem connections. The software is easily upgradeable in the field and includes the latest in user selectable data logging and graphic display features. In addition to units that can be retrofitted into existing control cabinets, it can also be supplied with an ICMI universal cabinet with either a powder coated finish or in stainless steel.
Presently, ICMI has its own line of Power Utility
Products; including the UVR-1, Voltage Regulator Control to Retrofit
GE, Siemens/Allis, McGraw Cooper cabinets and all models and
features DNP-3.0 Communication. The URC-24 is a 3-phase
Recloser Control for Retrofitting Kyle/McGraw Form 3,3A.
The UVR-1 control is standard O.E.M. supplied to Howard Industries.
